I recently read an article that a new formulation for ink would allow it to dry faster…great news for lefties like me that have spent years with ink-stains constantly on the outside of our writing hand and pinky finger! The most ordinary things in our life continue to evolve, grow, get better. Even ink! Today we have dozens of colors and shapes of Sharpies…one of my favorite toys. We have gel ink pens…loved by scrap bookers and journaling advocates. We have space pens, fountain pens, ball point pens, roller ball pens, fine and medium points! We have dozens of new ways to express ourselves with analog tools in a digital world…ink remains relevant in the 21st Century because inspiration and skill intersected and created new ways to use ink!
If we can find new ways to engineer ink to participate in this digital age, then we can also be assured that when AI is fully realized, that ordinary things like ink and the human imagination will still have a meaningful part to play…we just may not know how many more colors we will create.
